Dear Parents,
We just finished an awesome field day! What a great way to end our school year with fun and fellowship! Thanks to the families that helped with our luncheon--(Anderson, Rubsam, Rider, Hughes and Elliott). We are so grateful!
Tomorrow, June 10 will be our final time together in Room 102! The students will be attending the 9 am Mass. Dismissal will be back at school by 10:30. If you'd like to take your child home before then we'll have a sign-out sheet.
This summer the students can still use the Reflex Math program at home. That would be very beneficial. Also library programs for children are wonderful. I know keeping up on reading and math will help these students to keep sharp.
In the report card you'll find NWEA standardized test reports and explanation sheets. Next year the students Grades 3-8 will take the test 2 times a year. Also the Record sheet for the STAR reading test for Accelerated Reading is in the report card. It has been an exciting year of learning and just seeing these little ones enjoy reading makes me so proud.
I want to thank you for your constant support this year. It's been very rewarding to work with your children and to watch them grow. They are all very precious and special and I'll miss them and I'll miss you too. Please stop back to see me in Room 102 next year!
Have an awesome summer!

Dear Parents,
We had a great day today--it's so nice to see everybody back after the long weekend.
We enjoyed learning about Memorial Day last week and why we celebrate it. Thanks for Mr. Duncan for the inspiring flyer that Charlie brought in and many thanks to him for serving our country.
This week we'll attend Mass on Friday, June 3 at 9 am. It's an all-school Mass and it is First Friday. Our readers and gift-bearers did a wonderful job last Friday!
The MSU math professors came and finished up their assessments today--the students who participated loved the bags, folders and pencils they received. Every student received a pencil, even if they didn't participate.
We're studying our last spelling list this week. Our lists are based on concepts in our language, and I think they really help the students become better spellers and readers. Thanks for helping with the spelling at home all year!
I hope you have a good week!

Dear Parents,
Our field trip to Impression 5 last week was wonderful! The students had 2 educational workshops on Force and Motion and time for free choice which they enjoyed. Thanks to Mrs. Rubsam, Dr. Eiland, Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Rule for chaperoning! It was a great morning!
This week we're finishing up units in Math-measurement, fractions and time. It's still hard to believe this year is almost over. We still are working hard and getting a lot accomplished.
We'll attend Mass this Friday with the K-5th graders. 2nd graders will be doing the readings and gift-bearing. If your child brings a reading home it's very helpful to practice. We will practice here also.
Next Monday there will be no school due to Memorial Day. I hope you have a nice 3 day weekend!

Dear Parents,
We had a very good week--our field trip was fun and we learned a lot about animal groups and food chains! Our guide Allison Chapman was a former STA student who's been at Harris Nature for 7 years. She taught us so much. Thanks to Dr. Coffey and Mrs. Hughes for chaperoning.
We enjoyed our retreat which was Thursday and Friday due to not finishing our projects. That worked out fine as we went back to the church to finish our pretty cross craft and bread-making, which the students really liked! Thanks to Mrs. Rubsam and Dr. Coffey for chaperoning.
I wanted to let you know where we'll be sitting during the First Communion Mass:
Facing the altar we are sitting in the first 4 rows of the 2nd bank of pews to the right of the center (main ) aisle.
There will be a field trip form for the First Communion lunch on May 9th (and the bowling trip following) coming home on Monday. I apologize for not getting that in the Friday folder. The money can be sent in by Wednesday please.
We had a good-bye party for Miss Heidi our MSU student Friday and with the retreat in the afternoon it was a busy day! We've said good-bye to Miss Jenna and Miss Heidi and they both were wonderful senior interns! We wished them luck as they graduate next weekend and student teach next year.
We look forward to our all-school Mass this Friday at 9am and our concert following in the gym to celebrate our wonderful grandparents and special VIPs. There will be an 11:30 am dismissal next Friday, May 6th also.
Please note:
On Saturday, May 7th, please have your child come to their room (102) BY 9:30 AM. I'd like to get a picture of the class at 9:40 either in the room or outside weather permitting. We'll have time for pictures in the room also. The class picture will be taken promptly at 9:40.
The First Communion Mass will start at 10:00 am. The students will process over to the church and be there by 10:00.
Thank you for everything you do--the students are so excited about their First Communion! I hope you are enjoying the novena with them too.
